Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Maria Gloria Cardarelli is the founder and creative mind behind Galatea Design Studio. Her design philosophy centers on balancing the stylistic personality and objectives of a client with their intended purpose for a space.
She places emphasis on comfort and on giving her clients spaces that feel intuitive, where their routines are an easy, seamless flow of their lifestyle.
““I strive to create spaces that have an uplifting quality. Nature’s ability to stimulate multiple senses at once, even on a subconscious level, links us back to nature and its grandiosity. I believe this is true whether you are a city-dweller loving the high-rise life or a suburbanite drawn to wide open spaces. Something as simple as running your hand over porous stone or seeing the play of light bounce off of metals can engage our instincts and sensibilities and create a powerful experience within a space.””
Because each project calls for its own unique recipe, she invests herself in the discovery process that happens during the early stages of a project, in order to gain the insight needed to understand her clients and how to enhance their daily life. Finally, she believes that incorporating organic materials is a powerful tool that adds weight and substance to design,
When she’s not wearing her designer-hat, Maria Gloria keeps her inspiration fresh through her hobbies, which include her loves for gardening, playing drums and traveling. When traveling, she immerses herself in local culture and experiences each place through its folklore and arts scene. This has allowed her to develop unique relationships with overseas artists and artisans, and she looks for opportunities to introduce her clients to things they might not have seen or thought of.
She is also very committed to working with her network of local merchants and artisans, and prides herself on being a thorough and resourceful partner to her clients in her commitment to satisfy their desires. For her, learning is constant —particularly when it comes to industry knowledge and its evolving landscape.
Maria Gloria is also a coffee addict, dog mom, and an attorney licensed in New York and Georgia (go dawgs ;).

Maria Gloria Cardarelli is the founder and creative mind behind Galatea Design Studio. Maria Gloria's appreciation for aesthetics and the arts became apparent at a young age when, as a little “assistant” in her mother’s design shop, she displayed an intuitive understanding of aesthetic qualities and how they come together by doing things like creating palettes based not only on color but also on texture and pattern, making good taste seem instinctive. Spending young years in her mother’s shop also taught her the beauty and importance of technique and method, and how they directly affect a final product’s quality and longevity. Her design philosophy centers on balancing the stylistic personality and objectives of a client with their intended purpose for a space, while remaining mindful of the setting and environment that surrounds the project site.
